The Girl on the Shelf

She's nothing but an object of amusement
He takes her down to play when he gets bored
All alone she wonders where the time went
The time he used to make her feel adored
He brings her close enough to hold her interest
Then pushes her away when it's enough
She knows that her importance falls to third best
To each distraction he thinks of
When often he denies her of affection
It can't be gained from any other place
She's his china doll and his possession
He won't stand to ever be replaced
She wonders as she stares at her reflection
Why it's worthwhile to wait here on the shelf
When I start to pity her position
I see I'm looking at myself
Chorus
Alone again
Walls closing in
Time goes so slow
In this limbo
